WA-TA-SHI microbiome
This is the WA-TA-SHI microbiome series of Hado Art created by myself.
Microbiome is a general term for microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, and viruses) that live symbiotically in the human body, and exist everywhere, coexisting with them, from other animal and plant organisms to soil, water, and the air.
Among these, the so-called human microbiome coexists mainly in parts of the body that come into direct contact with the outside world, such as the stomach, intestines, oral cavity, skin, respiratory tract, and urinary tract, and plays an important role for the body, such as preventing the invasion of pathogens and aiding digestion.
In a healthy human, organs such as a brain, heart and kidneys are sterile and do not contain microorganisms. Even though there are no microorganisms in our organs, humans are said to have a huge number of microorganisms in their bodies, which are said to weigh up to 3% of body weight. This means that we live in symbiosis with several times more microorganisms than the number of human cells.
For example, it has become clear that the microorganisms that live in our stomachs and intestines not only aid in digestion and influence the functioning of the immune system, but also produce compounds that can interact with our nervous system. It is said that it is becoming clear that these microorganisms that live in the human body even influence our moods, emotions, and personality. Gut microbes may alter gene expression in the brain, influencing the development of key brain regions involved in memory and learning, and even influencing how we respond to anxiety and stress.
The vast number of microorganisms that live in our bodies form a group known as the microbiome, and while interacting with human cells, they control the physiological functions of our bodies.
I feel that a single human body is fully aware of this mutually dependent relationship.
In the human body, the microbiome helps us know that everything in the universe is connected and that we coexist in symbiosis.
I create Hado Art with this intention in mind.
